History of the Institute

With an objective of ensuring a steady flow of skilled personnel and to reduce unemployment amongst the educated youth by equipping them with required skills, education and discipline for suitable industrial employment as well as self-employment, Industrial Training Institutes have been set up under the Craftsmen Training Scheme in Goa. They are affiliated to National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), through the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Government of India in the Ministry of labour, New Delhi. They impart training in engineering and non-engineering trades.

HISTORY THE INSTITUTE

Margao Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) was set up in the year 1975 under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) in Goa with an objective to ensure a steady flow of skilled personnel to the public and private sectors, and to reduce unemployment amongst the educated youth by equipping them with the required skills, education and discipline.

This ITI has been imparting training in various Engineering and Non-engineering trade courses suitable to the Indian industrial environment. Most of the trades and units available in this Institute are affiliated to the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), New Delhi through the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Labour, Government of India, New Delhi and the training is imparted as per the syllabus and curriculum approved by Government of India in consultation with National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). However, some of the trades/units in this ITI are affiliated to State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT) through the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(DSDE), Panaji-Goa.
